An introduction is what hooks the reader. In order for a reader to be interested in the topic you are writing about, you need to make the introduction a memorable paragraph. People do not want to read boring introductions. When they read boring introductions, readers will just pass your paper to a pile and receive a bad grade. Introductions might be the hardest paragraph to write but it is also the most important one. To write a well writtened introduction, you simply need to establish a hook and a thesis (or theme). The research Genre Text that I examined is Disney's The Lion King. The most memorable song in the movie, "Circle of Life", is about life and death. In the music video, there is a bright sunset, many different types of animals in their packs, and with what seems to be African music playing in the background. When the lyrics start, it describes how we are born in this world to experience lifes' ups and downs and finding our own place in society ("From the day we arrive on the planet. And blinking, step into the sun"; There's far too much to take in here. More to find than can ever be found" and "Till we find our place"). As the chorus starts, it talks about how love, faith, and hope are vital to us ("Through despair and hope. Through faith and love"). By watching the video and listening to the music, I am inferring that the thesis is talking about Africa and the life of the animals. The hook of this music video would be the animals coming together as one unit to celebrate the life of the baby lion. In my opinion with what I have described previously, I think this music video is successful with creating a great and memorable introduction.
