After reading all of the short stories and watching the videos, my favorite Little Red Riding Hood composition is the poem by Roald Dahl. I chose this composition because I have a personal connection with his books. When I was younger, before I went to bed, I would always read a chapter of one of his books. Whenever I needed to do a book report, I would always choose one of his stories. The composition's author is Roald Dahl. He is known as a children's author whose written Matilda (my personal favorite), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach. In most of his books such as the ones I have listed, appeals to young readers. However, in his version of Little Red Riding Hood, the audience would address to teen readers due to the Wolf eating the grandma, the violence of Litte Red shooting the Wolf with a gun, and skinning the Wolf for a fur coat. The message in his poem would be for children to stay away from strangers and women empowerment. Little Red Riding Hood should not have spoken to the Wolf if she knew he was posing as her grandmother. This teaches the readers what not to do in a stragner situation. With Little Red pulling out her pistol, she tells the audience that women are not afraid of defending themselves. In past history, women were always inferior. Women would always have a lower wage than men or always be a homemaker. I think the strongest appeal in this composition would be pathos because the stranger involvement and Little Red defending herself appeals to emotion. Strangers and womens rights are emotional to people because those two situations are examples of just how experiences change people's lives. The mode of this poem would be text-based and visual because of the pictures and the medium would be print. The conventions that the composition uses are the colored drawings to represent the readers to keep them interested. To me, I find this composition to be sucessful because it clearly states the message and addresses the right audience.
